***A Message from Stephanie Tilenius -- The International Site Visibility listing upgrade for US, Canada, UK and Ireland sites***March 31, 2008 08:01AM PST/PT Stephanie Tilenius
Hello everyone…This is Stephanie Tilenius, General Manager for eBay North America. The ability to sell internationally is a key benefit of doing business on the eBay marketplace. I'm pleased to announce an exciting new listing feature upgrade that will give sellers in North America the option to get full visibility for their items on other eBay sites, initially eBay.co.uk, enabling them to reach many millions more buyers. How International Selling Works Today
eBay's global marketplace opens the door to international business for many sellers. Traditionally, US sellers who want to attract buyers in the UK and elsewhere have had two options:1) They can list on eBay.com and choose World Wide Shipping or other international shipping options. In this scenario, their items only show up on another international site in the few cases when buyers specifically look for international items using Advanced Search features.
Or –2) They can create a separate listing on another international eBay site (and pay all the same fees that other sellers pay to list there).Coming Soon: International Site Visibility Listing Upgrade In May, we're giving sellers who list on US and Canada sites a better option for international exposure by introducing the International Site Visibility listing upgrade. With this listing upgrade, sellers will be able to list on their local site and pay a small upgrade fee so that their listing also shows up in the main default search results to buyers across the Atlantic on eBay.co.uk – two sites for a great price.
In the US, the fees to use this optional upgrade are as follows:
Start Price$0.01 -9.99 International Site Visibility Listing Upgrade Fee10 cents
Start Price$10 - 49.99International Site Visibility Listing Upgrade Fee20 cents
Start Price$50+International Site Visibility Listing Upgrade Fee40 cents
The International Site Visibility listing upgrade offers sellers who want to expand their international business a great value – items with this upgrade show up by default for international buyers in the market selected in addition to the buyers in the seller's own market.
This makes international listing economical and easier to manage than listing separately for international sites.Data shows that depending on the category and start-price, it only takes one or two extra bids from international buyers to make up the cost of the International Site Visibility fee.
For PowerSellers, using this feature also ensures that these UK sales are counted towards their Final Value Fee discounts.UK, Ireland, US and Canada International Support Only At launch, the International Site Visibility listing upgrade will only be available for eBay UK, eBay Ireland, eBay Canada and eBay.com. US and Canada sellers have the upgrade option to list on eBay UK, and UK and Ireland sellers have the upgrade option to list on the North America sites. We'll be adding support for more international markets in the near future, so stay tuned.
A word about testing – US-UK Collectibles Over the past six months, we've been running tests in the collectibles-related categories on eBay.com and eBay.co.uk, looking for optimal ways to display international listings. These tests will be concluding as we introduce International Site Visibility as an upgrade available for almost all categories to US and UK sellers.
We're excited about the new opportunities for the members in our communities to do even more trade together. International Site Visibility helps sellers reach international buyers – and helps increase the value and selection available to buyers! We'll update you again once International Site Visibility is launched.
Sincerely, Stephanie Tilenius, General Manager, eBay North America
Here's the bottom line. International buyers are smart enough to log into eBay US to look for the goods they want. Sellers don't need to pay extra fees for this exposure. What eBay is doing is picking the pockets of it's sellers again. I'm willing to bet that if not enough people opt for these extra fees that eBay will somehow find a way to charge it's sellers extra for each international transaction.
There are alternatives out there. Join Specialist Auctions which provides worldwide exposure on the internet through it's site, automatic google base upload every Monday for set price items and the ability to list your items in any currency you choose. In addition there are no listing fees at Specialist Auctions and free stores. You simply pay 3% of your final price achieved once your item sells. That's right. WHEN YOUR ITEM SELLS.
It's good business to diversify. Why not make Specialist Auctions the solution to your problems?

Take Easter for example. I remember with fond memories going out with my Mom to get an Easter hat, spring coat, new dress, gloves, tights and new shoes. More often than not we would wind up at Bradlees. We'd find said coat, hat, gloves, tights, shoes and dress which of course all matched. Then Mom would take me to the Bradlees lunch counter and we'd have lunch together.
I remember one time in particular when we had tuna salad on toasted bread. My mom commented that the bread should have been toasted darker to make the sandwich more appealing. Years later I told my mom of this memory and she looked at me and said, "Did I really say that?" And I said "Yes you did and when I make toasted tuna salad sandwiches at home the bread is toasted dark just like it should be." She smiled.
I also remember going to the Cold Spring Cemetery on Palm Sunday to put crosses made of the palms we received at Our Lady of Loretto Church on the graves of our departed family members. One particular Palm Sunday there was snow on the ground. My mom ever the stylish lady living on a budget stepped forward to put the palm cross on a family member's grave. She left something more behind than that palm cross. Her stilettos left their turquoise dye behind. I wonder if any of our other family members saw those shoe prints that day?
Now of course my Dad has also created memories for me as well. Being raised Catholic we did not eat meat on Fridays. I asked one Friday night why that was and my father said, "We eat fish on Fridays because Jesus wanted to make sure his disciples could make a living selling their fish." Of course this was my Dad, the wisest man I knew speaking. So when I went to my catechism class the following Wednesday when Sister Anne Charles asked why we don't eat meat on Fridays I could not wait to share my new found wisdom. To say Sister Anne Charles did not have a sense of humor would be another understatement.
My Dad also used to tell us stories about when he was learning how to be an altar boy. Dad was an altar boy at Our Lady of Pompeii Church and went to school at Our Lady of Pompeii School. He told us that he was serving at his first mass alone one Sunday and when it was time to ring the bells he was on the wrong side of the altar. After that mass the pastor told him the easiest way to make sure you're on the correct side of the altar.
Now you could say what does all this have to do with what you are today? What these few instances taught me along with so many others that I've not mentioned are:
A. There's a right way to do things (toasting the bread dark enough to make it look appetizing).
B. You don't need a lot of money to be stylish (dyeing your shoes).
C. Remembering those who have gone before you is really important (putting palm crosses on the graves of our departed family members).
D. Having a sense of humor helps make some of the dictates of religion a bit more bearable (the disciples selling their fish on Fridays).
E. You learn and remember much more from your mistakes than you do from your triumphs (altar boy on the wrong side of the altar).
I hope that I'm passing along similar experiences for my girls to remember long after I'm gone. I'd rather they remember me for things like that than anything else.
I love you Mom and Dad. The memories make it just bearable now that you are not here. But I won't forget the things you've taught me and I hope I do you proud.

Vintage 50s VLV Lace Taffeta Rockabilly Full Circle Skirt XS, S
Mary was drawn to it like a moth to a flame. It beckoned her from across the crowded room. The skirt was a feast of lace with a taffeta underskirt in her favorite color, black. Quickly she grabbed the skirt from the rack, not even realizing it was a full circle.
She paid for her purchase and hurried home with her prize. In her room she tried the skirt on with a few different tops admiring her reflection in the mirror. She twirled in delight as the skirt formed a full circle. Something in the mirror caught her eye as she twirled. She glanced down at her shoes thinking she had something better to pair with the skirt when she glanced in the mirror again this time seeing a Kao warrior, named Kalei, looking back at her. He caught her as she fell and carried her through the magic wall to his village.
Kalei left Mary lying on a pallet of soft leaves attended to by his mother and sisters. He went to the temple to speak with the Kahuna. Kalei spoke of his love and desire for Mary and the life he wanted to live with her. The Kahuna denounced Mary as Maka'ainana, a commoner and not fit for Kalei to wed.
Mary in the meantime awoke only to be gawked at by Kalei's mother and sisters. They gave her refreshments and helped her bathe and re-dress for they knew Kalei had chosen her to wed.
Kalei was beside himself. He knew to defy the Kahuna was taboo and meant certain death for both he and Mary. As night fell Kalei made a decision. He would go to the cave where he first saw Mary, looking at herself in the magic wall. Without words Kalei explained his love to Mary and asked her to be his wife. Mary accepted as she knew in her heart that Kalei was the only one for her. Kalei bid his mother and sisters farewell and Kalei and Mary quickly fled to the cave with the magic wall.
Standing before the magic wall they pledged themselves to each other, then hand in hand they walked through the magic wall never to return to the village.
The clock on the nightstand was flashing 12:00." The power must have gone out", thought Mary as she sat up on her bed. "That was some dream I had." Gingerly for she was sore, Mary turned around, seeing for the first time Kalei smiling at her from the other side of the bed.
